Physiotherapy with Ryan Deller
We have recently been joined by Ryan, a physiotherapist who will be working alongside Claire Edwards.
Ryan graduated in 2019 with a Doctor of Physiotherapy Degree from the University of Melbourne in Australia (please take a look at the Practitioners page for more information on Ryan’s qualifications, background and clinic experience)
We asked Ryan to write a few lines introduce himself to the Springbank community …
“Hi, I’m Ryan, a physiotherapist here at Springbank Clinic. I’m excited to help you move better, feel stronger, and get you back to doing activities that are important for you!
Here’s something to consider: everyone knows that resistance training and exercise is good for you, but can you explain WHY? Here’s just a few reasons:
- By optimally loading your muscles with resistance training, your muscles become stronger so you can move more efficiently and reduce injury risk
- By optimally loading with resistance training, your bones become more dense which reduces chance of, and can reverse, bone mineral loss diseases such as osteoporosis
- Regular exercise reduces your blood pressure, linked to reducing risk of death from cardiovascular diseases such asheart attack and stroke
- Regular exercise releases endorphins into your blood which improve your mental health
- Regular exercise has been shown to reduce fatigue and improve sleep
- Regular exercise improves your body fat composition ratio which can reduce joint pain and have an anti-inflammatory effect on your body
- Regular exercise has also been shown to reduce risk of hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and cancer.
These are just some of the reasons why I often prescribe exercise as part of my treatment plan, and why I encourage my patients (and family!) to continue exercising even when they are free of pain!”
